The Summer Fun League (SFL) in Louisville, KY, consists of 8 teams and offers a fun, competitive environment for swimmers of all ages.

 

Jim is the president of his summer team, Polo Fields, and a key figure in the Summer Fun League. With experience as a USA Swimming official and a parent of a club swimmer, he leads the league's technology efforts, enhancing meet efficiency through Swimmingly. Jim's commitment and expertise make him a vital part of the league's success.

The Challenge

Transitioning from Manual Systems to Digital Solutions

Before adopting Swimmingly in 2017, the league faced significant challenges with the manual systems they used to manage swim meets. The reliance on computers, paper, and stopwatches created a cumbersome process that was time-consuming and prone to human error. These manual methods required extensive coordination and paperwork, leading to delays and inefficiencies during meets. For instance, compiling and distributing heat sheets and tracking race times manually often resulted in discrepancies and slow updates. The team needed a solution to streamline these processes, enhance accuracy, and provide immediate results to participants and spectators.

We've been using Swimmingly since 2017 and were one of the early adopters. Before Swimmingly, the system involved a computer and a lot of paper and stopwatches. Now we don’t need to worry about that.
