Lost Coast Aquatics

Founded by Mike, an experienced coach with over 20 years in the sport, including time at Novaquatics and Humboldt Swim Club, Lost Coast Aquatics was created to bring accessible, well-organized swim meets to rural teams.

 

With many teams in the region struggling to host meets due to a lack of personnel and resources, Mike saw an opportunity. “Humboldt Swim Club didn’t feel comfortable hosting meets—they didn’t have the volunteers or the experience,” Mike explains. Drawing on his coaching background, he launched Lost Coast Aquatics to bridge the gap, organize competitions, and create more racing opportunities for local swimmers.

Before switching to Swimmingly, Lost Coast Aquatics relied on outdated, clunky timing systems and manual processes. Setting up meets was a logistical nightmare, requiring physical timing equipment, trained volunteers, and a high level of technical know-how.

 

Mike describes the difficulties of the previous system: “I loved the CTS5, but having the pickles, the computer, high-tech software—it was cumbersome. You needed trained volunteers just to run the meet, and it slowed everything down.” For a program built on flexibility and accessibility, the traditional meet management approach wasn’t sustainable.

Mike needed a turnkey solution that would allow him to host meets without requiring extensive training or complex hardware. Enter Swimmingly—a platform that streamlined meet management, replacing stopwatches and manual timing equipment with a mobile-based system.

 

“The ease of access was the biggest thing,” Mike says. “I didn’t have to train parents on complex timing systems, and I didn’t need a computer. Parents just used their phones, and it worked.” With Swimmingly’s mobile-based timing, meets became faster, smoother, and easier to organize, eliminating unnecessary stress for volunteers and coaches.

Mike highlights the impact: “We went from needing four or five people at the admin table to just two, and we were able to move through the meet so much faster. Plus, I can make last-minute adjustments, add swimmers on the spot, and keep everything running without delays.” The switch to Swimmingly has not only saved time but also reduced stress for athletes, parents, and coaches alike. Now, Lost Coast Aquatics can focus on what truly matters—giving kids more opportunities to race, compete, and grow in the sport.
