Summer Swimming is not only an incredible experience for the swimmers, but for those hard working parents as well. It’s not everyday you get to watch your little swimmers race their hearts out in those fun summer swimming meets. Here are 5 things that every parent should certainly hold on to during the roller coaster ride that we call summer swimming!
1. The Smiles
If you have ever been to a summer swim meet, you know they are filled with smiles. Win, lose, or draw, little Jimmy is getting out feeling like he just conquered the world. Hold onto those memories and don’t forget how big those smiles are once that ribbon is placed in their hands. Before you know it, little Jimmy wont be so little anymore!
2. The Successes
Heat Winners, Personal Bests, Trophies! Summer swimming can certainly be a rollercoaster ride for the young ones. A very fun rollercoaster ride! If you thought you saw some big smiles at the meet, just wait until these big awards begin to appear!
3. The Bad Swims
No matter who you are and what your age, there are always going to be some bad swims in this crazy sport. Nobody likes to see a little swimmer upset after a race. But it’s okay! It’s all part of the experience. The day that your swimmers learn to get back up, move on, and race again and again is something that will set them up for a lifetime of success.
4. The Firsts
Whether it’s the first time across the pool or a first place at the City Meet Championships, summer league swimming is full of firsts! Enjoy it, capture it, and hold on to them because there is only a first one time!
5. The Team
It really doesn’t get much better the being part of a summer league swim team. Best friends to awesome coaches, you get to experience it all right at your summer pool. Team cheers, warm-ups, swim meets and banquets, all of these activities and experiences will help build these youngsters into incredible adults. Memories really do last a lifetime!
